Award winning vocalist Emma Pask has firmly established herself as one of this country’s favourite voices in Jazz.She has been charming audiences nationally and internationally with her sensational sound, and it comes as no surprise that James Morrison, Australia’s most awarded jazzman, describes Emma as “The greatest gift to Australian Jazz Vocals in the last decade”. Her talent was spotted by James Morrison during one of his regular visits to high schools when she was just 16 years old. Emma first sang with his band that night, and now as they say, ‘the rest is history’ the two having just celebrated 20 years of musical collaborations. While Emma’s voice and style are unique, and individually her own, her performances are reminiscent of the classic era of jazz, when swing was top of the charts.
There have been many a musical highlight throughout Emma’s 20 year career. By request, in 2006, she performed the Bridal Waltz for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s wedding. Emma is a “Mo’ award winner for Jazz Vocalist of the year, and has performed for VIP audiences including the late Diana Princess of wales, Princess Mary of Denmark. She has performed to audiences of up to 80,000 people, Sung in London at The Queen Elizabeth Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Played support for George Benson on his tour of Australia. In Auckland with the NZ Philharmonic, With the WA Symphony Orchestra in Perth. Recorded with the BBC Big Band in London. Performed at the Phillips International Jazz Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Toured her band ‘The Emma Pask Quintet’ through Laos and Singapore Performed in Rome Italy, And has preformed at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Emma has featured on Channel 9’s Carols by Candlelight live from the Sidney-Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Emma received rave reviews for her performances in Uruguay, South America. And is a regular at the prestigious Ascona Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Emma shared the stage with David Hobson and Anthony Warlow in 2015 on board the BRAVO cruise of the performing arts. Emma makes regular appearances on national television shows such as the Today Show, Mornings, Spicks and Specks and more recently she appeared in series 2 of the TV show “The Voice” Australia. Her Coach, Ricky Martin, was so impressed with Emma’s vocal ability, after she performed ‘Mas Que Nada’ in both English and Portuguese he announced that he would like to invite Emma to record with him on his upcoming Album. He believes her voice needs to be heard all around the world. Her independent self funded jazz album ‘Some other Spring’ held the number one spot on the Jazz Charts for many weeks. In 2013 Emma was signed by Universal music and she released her Christmas album “Season of my heart’ This also held the number one position on the iTunes Jazz Charts for many weeks and was nominated for an ARIA award for Jazz Album of the year. “Cosita Divina” released September 2015 is Emma’s latest musical offering. Returning to her independent roots, this self funded/produced album explores Emma’s love for Latin Jazz Fusion.Despite her achievements and the international recognition of her talent, Emma retains her natural, refreshing and unpretentious, positive approach to life.
